Three scientific questions
BMDL develops bio-integrated devices across three interfaces, connecting materials, device fabrication, integrated systems, and experimental validation.
This work is supported by more than €1.7M in dedicated fabrication and test infrastructure. Researchers also have access to Koç University’s ISO 5 cleanroom for device fabrication.
Ultrasonic Devices and Acoustic Biointerfaces
Scientific question
How can soft, body-conformal acoustic systems see, sense, or act beneath tissue?
Platforms
- Conformal ultrasound arrays
- Wearable imaging patches
- Acoustic stimulation
- Implantable acoustic links
Microneedles and Wearable Biosensing
Scientific question
How can tiny volumes of body fluid be sampled and converted into reliable molecular signals?
Platforms
- Microneedle sampling and delivery
- Wearable electrochemical sensing
- Smart contact lenses
- Molecular recognition and microfluidics
Implantable and Bioresorbable Devices
Scientific question
Can an implanted system function, communicate, and safely disappear when its work is complete?
Platforms
- Bioresorbable electronic systems
- Transient materials and degradation control
- Wireless data and energy
- Tissue interfaces and biological validation
